Deadline: January 2, 2026

Applications are open for the NYCEDC Summer Internship Program 2026. The Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-week experience and an opportunity for students and emerging professionals to explore a career in public service.

Summer interns work on exciting projects in one of NYCEDC’s many dynamic departments. They also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program. As an NYCEDC Intern, you will help solve problems facing New York City and make an impact from day one.

Interns may work on a variety of projects that align with their field of study or career interests. These can include research, supporting ongoing projects, or contributing to team meetings and presentations. Examples of past intern projects include: participating in roundtables, conducting Building Conditions Assessments, working on the Rent Credit Approval Process, researching City Council bills, creating maps and performing spatial analysis, developing an energy data dashboard, conducting financial analysis, assisting with requests for proposals, and more!

Benefits

  • Apart from a formal first-day Intern orientation, they organize weekly “EDC 101” seminars for interns! These sessions provide interns with the chance to hear directly from each department, gain insights into their responsibilities and projects, and see how interdepartmental collaboration happens at NYCEDC.
  • Interns will receive mentorship from their direct manager (who might have been a former intern)!
  • NYCEDC interns are also invited to company-wide events (e.g., townhalls, summer outings, etc.) to meet colleagues from across the organization.

Eligibility

  • Open to undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates.
  • International students with a valid F-1 visa for the internship duration are eligible to apply.
  • Students who have off-campus work authorization through CPT, OPT, or STEM-OPT are also eligible.

Application

All intern positions require submission of a resume and cover letter. There will be an option to submit supplemental materials of your choosing (e.g., a writing sample or a portfolio sample).
