It’s creepy and it’s kooky; mysterious and spooky. But we’d argue that Jenna Ortega‘s Wednesday-inspired fashions aren’t even close to all together ooky.

Take the strapless gown—designed by Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing—she donned at the 2025 Met Gala that certainly measured up when it came to the annual event’s “Tailored to You” dress code.

“Crafted entirely from metallic rulers,” the fashion house announced in a May 5 Instagram post, it served as “a nod to the instruments of patternmakers.”

And save for a few notable exceptions of the pastel variety, the California native’s red carpet looks have been a full-on salute to her most famous role.

“I’ve always respected goth culture,” the star, marking her 23rd birthday Sept. 27, told Vogue in 2023. “I’ve always had a darker sense of humor, but I never felt like I was able to express that. Now I feel like I can embrace those qualities in myself.”

It all started with that first deep cut, the formerly long-stranded star embracing an edgier shag for her titular role in the Netflix series.
