Do you want to spend from 4 to 8 weeks inside a cutting-edge research center, talking to scientists, exploring laboratories, and turning science into stories for society? Apply for the ICMAB Journalist in Residence 2026. This residency aims to foster communication between science and society, enhance the visibility of ICMAB’s research, and promote informed public understanding.
During the residency, the selected journalist will have the opportunity to:

- Meet and interview researchers, technicians, and staff.
- Explore ICMAB’s laboratories, projects, and discoveries.
- Attend seminars, workshops, and internal activities.
- Participate actively in the daily life of the institute.
- Produce at least one journalistic piece (article, podcast, video, or similar) inspired by the experience.
Benefits
- Honorarium of €4,000.
- Workspace at ICMAB for the duration.
- Access to ICMAB’s facilities and events (lab visits, seminars, researcher interviews).
- Support in arranging meetings/interviews with scientists and technical staff.
- Access to institutional communication channels to publish or disseminate the resulting pieces.
Eligibility

- Be based locally (Barcelona/Catalonia) or able to remain in the area for the duration.
- Be professional journalists (staff or freelance) with proven experience.
- Be proficient in Catalan, Spanish, and English, both in speaking and writing.
- Demonstrate interest in scientific topics or ability to engage with scientific research and researchers.
- Applicants should demonstrate a clear interest in science communication and the ability to engage diverse audiences.
