Applications are open for the New York Times Fellowship 2025-2026. This is a yearlong work program aimed at cultivating the next generation of journalists for The Times and the news industry at large. The program encompasses reporters, editors and visual journalists who can deliver breaking news and enterprise assignments. In 2025, for the first time, the program will include an A.I. Initiatives fellowship and a News Video fellowship. All fellows work full time, in either the newsroom or the Opinion section.

Since 2019, nearly 200 fellows have contributed to The Times’s mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world. Former fellows are working in media organizations around the globe, producing illuminating reporting and storytelling on some of the biggest news events of our time.

Eligibility

  • Open to early career journalists;
  • The most competitive candidates will be journalists who have newsroom or equivalent experience and a track record of strong, independent journalism.
  • Applicants with more than five years of professional journalism experience beyond internships will not be considered.

Application

The application window for the 2025-26 Times Fellowship is now open. All of the fellows work full time, in either the newsroom or the Opinion section. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Eastern on Dec. 2.
